Directions
- Melt butter in large pan on medium heat, once this is done add your chopped onions to the pan. During the caramelizing process you will be stirring the onions quite often. The process will take 15-20 minutes depending on your pan. While the onions are cooking you will need to add water to deglaze your pan and to prevent burning/sticking of the onions.
- Once the onions are done. Add all of the other ingredients including half of the caramelized onions to your food processor. Blend on high until a smooth consistency. Add any of the ingredients listed above to your liking. Empty the hummus out of the food processor into your desired vessel for it. Fold in the remaining caramelized onions that have been set aside- enjoy!
- Note: after refrigeration the hummus will become more dry and hard. I find that when I add some water to it this improves the consistency change back to a smooth texture!

Notes:
Changing the yield quantity will automatically adjust the ingredients in the ingredients list, but won't adjust the quantity of ingredients in the directions section.
